This is Cannes, one of the most famous cities in South of France and even in the whole world. I don’t think that there is someone who hasn’t heard of the film festival in Cannes. However, there is so much more to this town than the film festival.

You can enjoy the promenade at the sea shore, go to the beach, have a delicious meal in the narrow streets of the old town or visit the Lerins islands which are only 20min away by boat.

Although Cannes can be called a place at the French Riviera for the rich and famous to hang, I would say there is something interesting for everyone.

Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild us a pink-coloured vi

Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild us a pink-coloured villa located at Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat overlooking the sea that belonged to Beatrice de Rothschild. Inside you can find antique furniture, old precious paintings and sculptures.

The gardens are magnificent and well maintained. The villa, as well as its gardens, are open for the public (ticket is €18 per person and can be bought online or at the property).

I would take some time to go to this villa while at the French Riviera. It’s beautiful and the views of the seaside are breathtaking.

The Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild is located between Nice and Monaco and can be combined with visiting one of those two places in one day. Other popular places to visit nearby are Eze and Saint-Paul-de-Vence

The cutest little village in South of France, Gordes.

Located not far from Aix-en-Provence and Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, Gordes is a cute little historical old town in Provence with narrow streets and pretty stone houses, as well as the famous Airelles Gordes luxury hotel.

Make sure to check out this panoramic view of the town when you visit.

If you like macaroons or ice cream, there are some options for you there as well. If you visit on a Tuesday, you can enjoy the market where you can find food and other local goods.

Did you know that Provence can be so beautiful?

I visited Provence this summer and there are so many things to do and see there that we could not do it all at one trip, so we definitely have to come back.

But first, let’s explore some of the most beautiful and interesting places to visit in Provence, France:

📌 Gorges du Verdon - rent a boat or a kayak and spend a few hours on the river. Detailed info in my reel dedicated to Gorges su Verdon

📌 Valensole - this is where you can see giant lavender fields. A must-visit when in South of France

📌 Abbey de Senanque - make sure you come a bit earlier during the day since this place becomes quite crowded. Tip: there is a big parking right in front.

📌 Gordes - pretty little town with a beautiful panorama to check out, gets quite hot during the day. There is a Laduree macarons shop and a few cafes and ice cream shops.

📌 Saint-Paul de Mausole monastery - one of the most impressive places to visit in Provence. This is when Van Gogh stayed in Saint-Remy-de-Provence and painted one of his most famous paintings.

📌 Saint-Rémy-de-Provence - cute little town with narrow streets and a nice market on Wednesday

It’s market day at Saint-Rémy-de-Provence!

Some towns in Provence are famous for their markets. Saint-Rémy-de-Provence is one of them. Honestly, you cannot visit South of France and not check out at least one of their markets. You can normally find fresh fruit and vegetables, cheese, olive oil, lavender, bread and many other things.

Buying fresh vegetables is one of my favourite things to do at a local market. Look at those red tomatoes for example!

The market in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence is every Wednesday morning but be careful! You need to come a little but earlier if you want to find a parking spot, the town gets quite crowded with locals and tourists enjoying the market.

We also stopped for a bite and a glass of wine after. The wine from Provence, South of France is definitely worth a shot.

Welcome to Saint-Tropez, one of most popular, most wealthy and prestigious places at the French Riviera. Honestly, I did not expect that Saint-Tropez can offer so much more than fancy boutiques, expensive hotels and yachts but it definitely can! The town has beautiful narrow colourful streets and cute cafes and restaurants.

Tip: on Tuesday there is a market in Saint-Tropez that is great if you like fresh food and much more.

Of course, the shopping is also great.

Dream with me at DIOR 😍

This is @diordeslices cafe at Saint-Tropez, French Riviera, a real gem in town.

I visited Saint-Tropez during my trip to South of France and was left very impressed. The city is amazing with it’s small streets and cute houses, of course it also has its luxurious side with many beautiful boutiques among which my favourite Dior 🤩😍

We spent a lovely morning having breakfast there with a glass of Moet et Chandon. The staff was lovely and the atmosphere luxurious and beautiful. There is also an option to have lunch or dinner there. I would recommend to book a few weeks in advance since I saw people queuing like crazy outside.

Upstairs is also a beautiful Dior women’s shop for the ones who love to dream 🥰

This is your sign to visit Saint-Paul de Vence.

I completely fell in love with this small town at the French Riviera and would love to visit again. The town is not far from Cannes or Nice and can be accessed by car or bus. We were lucky because we came early and could have the whole place for ourselves. It is oke of the most beautiful places at the French Riviera and also one of the oldest towns there.

I would recommend to check out the house where Jacques Prévert lived and to get a croissant or other pastry from one of the bakeries.

Is this the most beautiful restaurant in Provence, South of France?

For me, it’s one of the most beautiful restaurants I’ve been to. A must-visit for when you are in the region. Just make sure you book a few weeks in advance. We enjoyed multiple courses prepared from fresh local ingredients, some of which were produced in their garden, which I find impressive. Wine was also really great.

It’s called La Madeleine and it’s situated in Crillon-Le-Brave in Provence.

It may be a bit of a drive if you are not staying nearby since the Crillon-Le-Brave is a bit isolated in Provence but that’s actually a part of the charming since it’s quiet and peaceful there.

But what is exactly the time of the year to see lavender fields in bloom in Provence, South of France?

The fields are in bloom from early July to mid August. So, actually a bit different depending on where you are in the region.

Lavender fields are situated in various places throughout the of Provence:

We visited the Valensole lavender fields and I must say they are massive! Other locations you can see ik this shot are:

This is your sign to visit Gorges du Verdon (Verdon Gorge), maybe the most beautiful place in Provence, South of France. It is a river canyon with turquoise-green water which is one of the things that makes it so amazing 🤩

👉 There are different places to rent a kayak or a small electric boat, or a pedalo. We departed from Location Nautic and were on our boat for around two and a half hours.

👉 The panoramic video is taken from Pont du Galetas which is another place to rent boats or kayaks from. This place is more crowded though and quite touristy. This is also where Lac de Sainte Croix is.

👉 It’s a good idea to combine this activity with visiting the lavender fields of Valensole

👉 Don’t forget to pack your lunch and some water bottles

Pov: you have arrived at one of the most beautiful towns at the French Riviera early in the morning and you have it all for yourself. This is Saint-Paul de Vence. It is one of the oldest towns at Côte d’Azur and it’s full of galleries and museums.

What you see on the reel is the house of the poet Jacques Prévert where he lived for a part of his life. The house is at the other side of the town from its entrance. It is now … an Airbnb! But you should already book for next year if you want to visit because it’s always fully booked!

Did you know that 20 min away by boat from Cannes at the French Riviera lies Lérins Abbey, the monastery of St Honorat’s island?

There is a group of islands near the city of Cannes, called Les Lérins. The two largest islands in this group are the Île Sainte-Marguerite and the Île Saint-Honorat.

The abbey on St Honorat island is truly magical and is actually a real functioning abbey at the French Riviera. You can visit when you are on the island. They also make their own wine which I find very interesting, so there are also vineyards on the island.

A nice place to visit when at the French Riviera.

An evening in Mallorca, one of the most romantic islands in Europe.

Which places I would recommend for an evening walk and dinner:

These places have great restaurants to dine in. Also, if you wish to go to a bar and party, I think that Mallorca has a lot to offer, especially in Palma where there’s quite some night live going.

Tip: people in Mallorca have dinner quite late, so don’t expect to have an early evening. It’s usually after nine o’clock when moat people are in restaurants enjoying a meal.

This June was the warmest in Belgium and this was of course, concerning from one side but also a bit nice because I really felt much better than when it was rainy and miserable all winter.

Durbuy is considered to be the smallest town in the world, according to some. However, this has not been confirmed. One is for sure though, it is a really cute town with lovely streets to walk on and some good places to have a drink.

Come with me to another castle in Belgium. This time we are going to Ooidonk Castle (Kasteel van Ooidonk) in Deinze. The castle is actually a residence of a real Count but the gardens are open in summer for the general public to visit. It was first mentioned in 13th century but was destroyed a couple of centuries later and rebuilt afterwards in a Renaissance style. It is currently a protected landmark.

There is also a very nice brasserie at the gate to grab a bite and the a pop-up restaurant in the gardens that I think we would like to visit in the future.
